I know that my posts about the Grand Duchesses nursing during the war are never that popular, but I think its admirable that Olga and Tatiana weren’t afraid to get their hands dirty in order to help their countrymen. I think it’s important to remember that the girls did more than just sit around and look pretty. They both assisted in surgery in the beginning, but it turned out that Olga was too sensitive for the operating room and appears to have suffered a nervous breakdown in 1915. After she recovered, she handed out medicine, did clerical work, and visited with patients instead. (I won’t go into this too much, as I believe I have mentioned the nervous breakdown before.)

Argh, I love this. I hate how everyone always seems to focus on the negatives of the Romanovs.
